Find out if your offer gets a response
Same segment, one promise. Find out whether the market reacts to it before you build a page, a pricing tier or a sales deck around it.
An example hypothesis
Owners of 10–50 person marketing agencies reply at 8% or more to “we find your next five clients”.
How it's usually answered, and why that misleads
Tweak the copy until something works
A new subject line every few days means no version gets enough sends to judge, and the last one gets the credit.
Retry on the same list
People who heard from you last month are answering a second email, not your new offer.
Count opens
Open tracking is unreliable and hurts delivery. A reply written by a person is the signal worth counting.
How it works in Sellvance
-
1
Write one promise
The single outcome the email offers, and the yes-or-no action it asks for.
-
2
Hold the segment steady
Use a segment that fits the offer, so the promise is the only real unknown.
-
3
Set the target, sample fresh
Decide the reply rate that makes the offer worth pursuing. Companies you've already emailed are left out.
-
4
Leave the email alone
No edits while it runs. Any change starts a new experiment, and the sends before it don't count.
What you get
- ✓ A pass, a fail or a grey zone for this offer, against the target you set
- ✓ The replies themselves, in the words prospects use for the problem
- ✓ A written record of the hypothesis, the target and the result
Testing on customers you already have
Past customers or lapsed trials are a fair audience for an offer test too: import them and set the target knowing these people already know you. Just don't compare their reply rate with a cold segment's.
| Outcome | When | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Works | Delivery passes and replies are conclusively above your target. | Scale it: start a separate campaign with a bigger daily limit and more mailboxes. |
| Doesn't work | Delivery passes and replies are conclusively below your target. | Change one thing and run a new experiment on fresh companies. |
| Grey zone | The planned sample is sent and the verdict is still open. | Extend once, by at most half the sample. Still open? Treat it as a no. |
| Invalid | Delivery fails, so replies can't be read. | Fix the channel and restart. Nothing was learned about the market. |
